Frequently asked questions

The audio only comes out of one headphone

The audio only comes out of one headphone

This problem can happen if the audio output of your console is set to Chat Audio.

  1. Go to the settings of your console.
    • On PlayStation 4: Settings > Devices > Audio Devices > Output to Headphones.
    • On PlayStation 5: Settings > Sound > Audio Output > Headphones > Output to Headphones.
  2. Select All Audio.
What are the differences between the RIG 500 PRO GEN 1 series and the RIG 500 PRO GEN 2 series?

The RIG 500 PRO GEN 2 series feature the following changes:

  • Virtually unbreakable metal headband on all models.
  • Change from a removable audio cable to a permanently attached, flat audio cable with in-line volume control and max volume lock.
  • Compatibility with all gaming controllers: Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, PCs, laptops and other personal electronics devices.
The audio is distorted on Xbox

Check the basic connections

  1. Insert the headset's 3.5mm jack into the device or controller correctly. If necessary, unplug it and plug it back in.
  2. Insert the other side of the wire on the headset correctly.
    • When the jack is correctly inserted into the Xbox controller port, you hear a soft click and you see the Audio option in the Settings menu.
    • If it is not recognised, there can be a problem with the controller's headset port. Test another controller.
  3. Test the headset with another source that has a headset connection, like a mobile phone, a tablet or a laptop.
  4. If there is an issue when you use another source, adjust the volume on the headset to decrease the distortion. If you need to lower the volume to the point where it is too quiet, this can indicate a damaged driver. Contact the support team.
If there is no issue, there can be a problem with the volume settings on the console.

Check the volume settings on the console

By default, when you first plug in a headset, the Xbox sets the volume at a mid-level.

  1. Press the Xbox button on your controller.
  2. Go to Profile & system > Settings > General > Volume & audio output.
  3. Adjust the volume. If you hear a distortion, lower it and if it is too low, increase it. We do not recommend testing the volume at the highest levels.

If there is still an issue, contact the support team.

There is no stereo sound
  1. Insert the headset wire into the device or controller correctly. If necessary, unplug it and plug it back in.
    • When the wire is correctly inserted into the controller port, you see the Audio option in the Settings menu.
    • If you use a RIG PRO 500 model designed for a different console, remove the plastic sleeve on the connector to fully insert the plug into the headset jack of the controller.
    • If it is not recognised, there can be a problem with the controller's headset port. Test another controller.
  2. Test the headset with another source that has a headset connection, like a mobile phone, a tablet or a laptop.
  3. If you are still having issues getting stereo sound, test the headset with another 3.5mm male to male cable.
  4. If you are still having issues, contact the support team.

Check the basic connections

  • Make sure that the microphone is fully inserted and is facing the correct way.

  • If you use a PlayStation headset with game audio dial on your Xbox controller or vice-versa, remove the plastic sleeve on the connector to insert the connector fully into the controller's port.
  • Put the microphone no more than 3-5cm away from your mouth.
  • Make sure that the microphone isn't muted on the headset.
RIG 500 headsets have a flip-to-mute feature. To unmute, flip the mic boom all the way down.

Check the headset on another device

  1. Plug your RIG headset into your mobile phone or any other device with a 3.5mm headset jack.
