PlayStation Plus Essential Games for May 2025
Available from May 6 to June 2, 2025, these three titles can be added to your library with an Essential (or higher) subscription:
ARK: Survival Ascended (PS5)
Survive in a world filled with dinosaurs, explore vast environments, tame prehistoric creatures, and build your territory! This edition includes all DLCs and supports online multiplayer for up to 70 players, private multiplayer for 8 players, and local split-screen for 2 players.
Balatro (PS4, PS5)
This poker-inspired game took everyone by surprise this year with its addictive concept. Create forbidden combos, develop powerful synergies, and discover jokers that can completely turn the game around.
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun (PS4, PS5)
Dive into an old-school shooter inspired by 90s FPS games, set in the dark Warhammer 40K universe. As a heavily armed Space Marine, you’ll battle the forces of Chaos across vast, retro-styled levels.
The PlayStation Plus Extra Catalog Expands in May 2025
PS Plus Extra and Premium members will gain access to these new games starting May 20:
Sand Land (PS4, PS5): this action RPG based on the work of Akira Toriyama (creator of Dragon Ball) takes you into a desert world where you play as Beelzebub, the prince of demons.
Soul Hackers 2 (PS5): with its unique atmosphere and strategic turn-based combat system, this RPG immerses you in a cyberpunk universe where a digital being named Aion predicts an imminent apocalypse.
Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted – Full Time Edition (PS4, PS5, PSVR2): this collection features remastered versions of the classic and original mini-games from the famous horror franchise for an even more terrifying experience.
Battlefield V (PS4): relive World War II in this entry of the acclaimed FPS series. This version also includes Firestorm, the franchise’s Battle Royale mode.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy (PS4, PS5): this remastered collection brings together the three classic open-world survival games: Shadow of Chernobyl (2007), Clear Sky (2008), and Call of Pripyat (2009).
Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising (PS4, PS5): this fighting game based on the popular Granblue Fantasy universe offers mechanics that are both accessible and deep.
Humankind (PS4, PS5): manage your cities and lead tactical battles in this 4X game developed by Amplitude Studios that lets you rewrite human history by combining different cultures through the ages.
Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life (PS5): this remake of the 2003 classic brings you back to Forgotten Valley to develop your farm, grow vegetables, raise livestock, and build relationships with the villagers.
Gloomhaven Mercenaries Edition (PS4, PS5): lead a company of mercenaries, face numerous enemies, and make decisions that will shape your adventure in procedurally generated dungeons.
The Free Game for PlayStation Plus Premium Members
Premium subscribers receive a PS2 classic this month: Battle Engine Aquila (PS4, PS5). Discover this first-person shooter from 2003, where you pilot a transformable mech on land and in the air. In a world where rising sea levels have made land scarce and valuable, you’ll fight in a war over these limited resources.
